What to Look For

Look for what appear to be female hummingbirds with short tails.
These are the youngsters of the year.

Look for the beginning of the waves of warblers, flycatchers, tanagers,
thrushes, and vireos in confusing fall plumages, passing through trees and
shrubs and ground cover, headed south.

Look for the migration of nighthawks, hundreds zigging and zagging
around the evening skies, in search of insects.

Look for birds caching food. In late summer, jays, crows, nuthatches,
